Men’s Basketball Hosts Bradley In Saturday Matinee

first_imgThe Drake University men’s basketball team returns to the Knapp Center for its first meeting of the season against Bradley on Saturday afternoon. Tipoff against the Braves is scheduled for 2 p.m. with the contest being broadcast on Mediacom MC22 and The Valley on ESPN3.The Bulldogs are aiming for their first MVC win of the season after starting the Valley season with nine-straight losses to fall to 5-16 overall.  Bradley is 1-8 in the MVC this season and 3-19 overall. The Braves lead the overall series with the Bulldogs by an 82-61 margin. However, Drake has won five-straight games at the Knapp Center against Bradley and is 13-9 all-time against the Braves at the Knapp Center.Last season, the teams met three times with the Bulldogs prevailing twice in the regular season and falling in overtime in the MVC Tournament. The Bulldogs have won three of the last four overall meetings in the series.Drake’s leading scorer, Reed Timmer, has two 20-point outings in the last four games after scoring 27 points against SIU and 21 versus Missouri State. He has now scored 20 or more points seven times this season and scored 19 points in four other games, including Wednesday’s loss at Illinois State.Sophomore Ore Arogundade has scored a career-high 12 points in two of the Bulldogs last three games. At Illinois State, he scored nine points with a career-high eight rebounds. The Braves are led by Donte Thomas’ 8.6 points per game while Ronnie Suggs adds 8.3 points per game. The Braves average 53.4 points per game.Following Saturday’s game, Drake travels to Indiana State to close the season series with the Sycamores on Tuesday, Feb. 2.Print Friendly Versionlast_img
