The England U19 international made his first senior appearance in this competition last year, and could be a regular on their Capital One Cup team-sheet this season. 2. Kelechi Iheanacho – Manchester City – The rather unknown 18-year-old hit the headlines after scoring the winner against Crystal Palace in the dying seconds of the match two weeks’ ago. With Sergio Aguero not firing, Iheanacho perhaps deserves his chance, and it’ll be interesting to see how he copes with the pressure at the Stadium of Light. 10 4. Andreas Pereira – Manchester United – The Brazilian midfielder is held with great regard in Manchester, but with Juan Mata, Ander Herrera and Bastian Schweinsteiger to compete with in LVG’s first-team, inevitably playing time is proving hard to come by. It’s perhaps a surprise he wasn’t sent on loan in the summer, and he’ll therefore be expecting a run in the Capital One Cup. 8. Leandro Rodriguez – Everton – The Uruguayan striker has been described as a ‘clinical street footballer’ and Toffees supporters are eagerly awaiting his debut. 10 9. Patrick Bamford – Crystal Palace (on loan from Chelsea) – Last season’s Championship Player of the Year has found playing time limited at Selhurst Park, having not yet been given a chance to prove his worth in the Premier League. He could be Alan Pardew’s first choice centre-forward in the League Cup, however. 10 10. Jamal Blackman – Chelsea – With Thibaut Courtois sidelined until the end of the year, Jose Mourinho may be tempted to rest Asmir Begovic for the League Cup, and hand reserve goalkeeper Blackman a very rare chance in the first team. 10 10 10 1.
