KSHSAA announces sub-state volleyball brackets for this Saturday

first_imgOxford — Class 2AOxford (10-20) will be the sixth seed at Pratt Skyline in a Class 2A sub-state Saturday.Oxford will play No. 3 Greensburg (27-2) in the first round. #2 Pratt Skyline (29-7) meets #7 Kinsley (7-22) in the other first round game on the south side of the bracket. On the other side is #1 Bucklin-Ashland (28-5) vs. Medicine Lodge (2-27) and #4 Coldwater-South Central (21-15) vs. St. Joh-Hudson (20-15).The full bracket can be found here. by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — The Kansas State High School Activities Association released the sub-state volleyball brackets for this Saturday. Teams winning sub-state will advance to their respective state tournaments. All sub-state tournaments are single elimination. Every bracket you want to see can be found here. Details of Sumner County teams sub-state assignments are as follows: Belle Plaine — Class 3ABelle Plaine (6-28), the fifth seed, will battle Wichita Collegiate (9-26), the fourth seed, in the first round of the Class 3A sub-state in Douglass.The other first round matches include: #1 Douglass (21-12) vs. #8 Leon Bluestem (1-26), #2 Neodesha (18-15) vs. #7 Caney Valley (3-29), and #3 Fredonia (11-19) vs. #6 Eureka (4-22).The full bracket can be found here. Conway Springs — Class 3A Conway Springs (12-13), a sixth seed, will battle Hutchinson Trinity Catholic (27-8) a third seed at the Class 3A sub-state in Garden Plain.The other first round matches include: #1 Cheney (29-7) vs. #8 Kingman (5-28), #4 Chaparral (15-19) vs. #5 Haven (11-21), #2 Garden Plain (30-8) vs. #7 Wichita Independent (11-22).The full bracket can be found here. Argonia — Class 1A Div. IIArgonia (31-5) will be traveling to Chetopa on Saturday for its sub-state.The Red Raiders are the top seed at 31-5 and will have an opening round bye. It will host the winner of Elk Valley (2-25) and Colony-Crest (10-22). Buffalo-Altoona Midway (6-24) is the No. 3 seed and Chetopa (10-22) is the second seed.Argonia goes into the tournament as the only volleyball team with a winning record.The full bracket can be found here.center_img Wellington — Class 4A Div. 1The Wellington High School volleyball team will go in as the No. 2 seed in the Class 4A Div. 1 sub-state volleyball tournament in Mulvane this Saturday.The first match will be #1 Rose Hill (29-8) vs. #4 Winfield (1-33) at 2 p.m. #2 Wellington (14-20) will play #3 Mulvane (11-21) 20 minutes after the first match is complete.The Crusaders just completed their regular season yesterday by splitting with Buhler and Andale in Wellington in an exciting night of volleyball. Wellington won the first match with Buhler 25-18, 25-14.In the second match, Wellington and Andale played a marathon event in which the Indians won the first game 25-23. In the second game of the second match Wellington and Andale battled to one of the lengthiest games of the season with the Crusaders coming on top 31-29. The Crusaders then lost the third set to Andale 25-17.Wellington also said good bye to four seniors Avery Lewellen, Brianna Mullen, Shelby Hamel and Micah Rogers.The full sub-state bracket is here. South Haven, Caldwell — Class 1A Div. 1South Haven will host the Class 1A Div. 1 tournament. Caldwell will go in as the No. 1 seed with a 33-3 record.Caldwell gets a bye and will play the winner of the #4 Central-Burden (9-20) vs. #5 South Haven (9-24).On the other side of the bracket #2 Udall (21-13) will get a bye. #3 Dexter/Cedar Vale (17-16) also gets a bye.The full bracket can be found here.
