Brand Jamaica to be promoted at Rio Olympics

first_imgThe Jamaican government is projecting to spend around $67,000 and over J$97 million to promote the country in the Rio Olympic Games this year. Edmund Bartlett, Tourism Minister of Jamaica, revealed that the above amount will be used to set Jamaica House 2016, a promotional tool used by the Jamaica Tourist Board to boost visitor arrivals from the region of host countries.The Ministry is currently securing sponsorship from corporate Jamaica to cover the some of the costs for Jamaica House 2016, said Bartlett. Promotions in Brazil might help to boost arrivals from South America, which is a new source market for Jamaica.The Minister maintains that promoting brand Jamaica at the Olympics has yielded positive results, noting that visitor arrivals from England and the rest of Europe increased after promotional activities at the London 2012 games.The Minister will also be meeting with some South American airlines to arrange flights to Jamaica in anticipation of increased visitor arrivals from the continent.last_img
